These film blotters were flagged up by a reader (thank you MakeMeBeautiful) and they’re really interesting. I’ve never seen anything like them before and I guess you would describe them as next generation blotting papers. It is very often the case that Japan leads with trends and I can see this one translating really well over here. In fact, MAC already does some although they aren’t scented (for a staggering £10.50 for 30 sheets – the ones I was looking at on Amazon were $2.20 for 60 sheets and someone was complaining that was too expensive!), Johnson & Johnson in Japan even do some grapefruit scented ones, and they’re all over Sephora so it is really just a matter of time.
The blotters are made from polypropylene film iinstead of paper giving a softer texture that still easily absorbs oil. After use the film becomes transparent. I’ve checked out a few reviews of these and everyone loves the minty smell. I can’t see what these are made of but I’ve found them very useful (and cheap!) £1.50 for 50, sadly no minty smell though 🙂

I discovered these by accident last summer and they’re great! My first buy was a packet of oil and sweat blotting papers and once you try them, you can’t go back to the old ones. Oil blotting papers with powder leave a nasty finish and the normal blotting papers mush up if you’re sweaty but these take care of it all: sweat, oil and shine are gone but your make-up will still be perfect 🙂 I’ve since bought other brands and I’m not sure if the ones specifically for blotting sweat are different from the regular ones but they seem to be the same.
Eyes, Lips, Face are awful!
I really want to find these because I love the smell of mint, although I usually attach it to the thought of foot creams!

I don’t know if they still do but Clinique certainly used to do film based blotting papers – I’ve had a packet in my bag for years.

I love the Johnson and Johnson ones but they are horribly hard to get hold of – even when I actually worked at J&J I still bought them off Ebay as it was easier!! I’ve had the pink grapefruit ones though and they are lovely – mint blotters sound like they’d be quite nice too!
