With all these lush, shine filled, moisturising lipsticks landing, it’s hard to believe that matte lipsticks were ever a trend. This year is glossy, dewy and soft all the way. And, somewhere along the line and major knowledge gap, I turn out to be an Automatique newbie. I’m fascintated by the mechanism of this lipstick that means you can apply with one hand (I’m not sure how much of a blessing this is, unless you actually only do have one hand) because by pushing up the small lip the lid opens and the lipstick pops out. There is no lid as such.

There is already a comprehensive collection of high pigment Rouge Automatique: Shine Automatique is a shimmering, moisturising version that gives a sheerer coverage.

The Collection is split into Reds, Oranges, Pinks and Beiges so every skintone is catered for. Obviously, the orange section is where I naturally gravitate toward every single time! I love the names of the colours: it feels like some real thought has been put into them… Mitsuko (fiery orange), A La Parisienne (pinky-red), Jicky (chocolate beige), and Rouge D’Enfer (red).. for example.

They launch on 15th April.
