Honestly, it’s complete love for this foundation. While in theory, I absolutely loathe matte foundations, thinking they basically drain the life out of your skin, this clever formulation from Givenchy is matte, but doesn’t deaden the complexion. To be honest, there is a little bit of formulation trickery here; it isn’t just a matte finish in the sense that we’d accept it; it contains zinc spheres that mattify when skin starts to act oily and therefore is a mattifying foundation for combination skin. My skin isn’t combination; in fact, it runs to dry, but I still loved the texture and feel of it.
Eclat Matissme claims to last 9.5 hours; I used it this morning and by now (18.25) it’s not anywhere near as fresh, it is still there. The most beautiful thing about this foundation is the consistency; it’s just lovely. It looks glossy like a proper, luxury foundation in the hand and feels incredibly soft on the skin. Boosted up with active ingredients to cleanse the skin of make-up build-up and to help reduce pore size, Eclat Matissme also has an SPF of 20. I didn’t find it gave that ‘deadening’ effect that so many matte products do, and nor does it look or feel drying. Skin just looks rather flawless.
It’s a complete joy of a foundation – I can’t say more than that. I’m not entirely sure when it launches; I’m guessing at the New Year.

I’m with you on matte foundations – I’ve got combo skin and matte just strips my skin and I end up looking dull as sin. This foundation sounds perfect…may convert me from my trust Laura Mercier if find a shade peely waly enough xx
Sounds great, the packaging looks very cool too.
I totally agree about the matte foundation thing – I like the idea in theory but generally they make me look a bit dead.
The Givenchy option looks right on the money though! I’ll definitely be picking up a bottle when I move to LDN 🙂
