I’ve been playing with the new range of glitter polishes from Filthy Gorgeous and it’s a mixed review. I absolutely love Radiance – a super shimmering coppery pink that is all kinds of pretty and also love silver Decadence. Extravagance (red) and Luminescence (bright pink) are also impactful, but personally I didn’t like the green Indulgence – it’s somehow kind of brash and Halloween-y. As far as texture goes, the finished result is smooth (how annoying when glitters don’t settle properly on the nail and you end up catching on everything), but not as super-glossy as I’d expected – they definitely need a top-coat to add shine. And formulation wise, it’s good and bad. Good in the sense that these polishes are perfect for a one-coat topping to add diluted shimmer to any base colour – silver over navy for example for a twinkly midnight look – but took three coats to get the intensity of an all over seamless glitter, and in the case of the red shade, even after three coats, I still felt it needed another to get the nail totally saturated. The glitter distribution varies from polish to polish, I felt, but for me the fact that the coatings are light glitter distribution that builds up is a plus as it gives more flexibility in how you can use them.

They’re priced at £9 each and available from October at Debenhams.
