I’m not the only one to notice that Dove’s ‘fifties inspired’ Christmas gifts aren’t in the least bit retro. Charlotte over at Lipglossiping has already commented. 

Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Sophie Loren are all icons of the fifties; the decade in which capri pants, cocktail dresses and twinsets were fashion staples. Iconic beauty from the fifties was embodied by cat-liners, bobs and brightly coloured lipsticks, inspired by the invention of Technicolor at the cinema.

None of which, not one single thing, is represented by Doves ‘fifties inspired’ collection. Just because you say a thing doesn’t make it so.
