If you follow my Instagram (britbeautyblog) then you’ll know I’ve had a whirlwind 24 hours in Paris to see the unveiling of Dior Fluid Sticks; a not-quite-gloss-not-quite-lipstick hybrid that’s absolutely beautiful. Fluid Sticks contain no waxes that can weigh down the texture so what you get is like water-gloss on the lip.

How Dior Fluid Sticks work is once the texture is applied to the lips, the water evaporates leaving just glossy pigments. The feeling is interesting – it feels both cooling and creamy but there is no stickiness.

The applicators are shaped like the tip of a lipstick so they really do hug the lip when you apply – I know a brush is just a brush but there’s something about this one that if you drill right down to the actual applying of a product is different and a very easy application. In fact, the design of Dior Fluid Stick packaging is clever – it looks like a lipstick but in a gloss tube which is a visual play on the textures – neither one thing nor another but both at the same time.

For every big colour launch, Dior always pull out four shades that are the stand-out or fashion colours. Above you can see Mirage, Pandore, Aventure and Wonderland and how they look in the swatch is pretty much how they stay on the lip. Easy to say, I know, when I’ve just had the heady influence of Paris, but these are game-changers in the lip category because they’re so succulent but easy to wear. They stay a while too, although I topped up a couple of times throughout the evening.

There will be 16 shades of Fluid Stick that launch in May for £26 each.
