The recent Givenchy campaign shot by Mert & Marcus shows the models with bleached out brows. Am thinking it can’t be long before The Daily Mail coerces some hapless intern into whisking off their eyebrows in exchange for a ‘My Life Without Brows’ feature. While Mert & Marcus have clearly gone for a take on androgyny and perception, lets not forget that the true no-brow trendsetter is the Mona Lisa. We’ve been faffing about with brows forever in the beauty world….one week it’s bushy, natural brows (although never a la Ugly Betty), the next it’s waxed and sleek, the one after it’s tweezed and teeny. You know what, though, I just think you should keep your brows how you like, and not even consider bleached out brows. In a fashion shoot it looks statement-y and freaky-stylish….on the high street, it’s just not going to work out that way. And it kind of makes me cringe for all the people who actually don’t have brows through illness….seems a bit insensitive to use a look associated with illness for a fashion shot.
