It’s not often that, when a new beauty product arrives at my door, I drop everything I’m doing to try it. But, thats what happened when a bike arrived with Estee Lauder’s Idealist Dual Action Refinishing Treatment, due to launch on 1st June. Its actually very similar to an existing product, Perfectionist Peel, which is rather fiddly with neutralising pads etc. However, Idealist feels the same once on in that it is prickly (thanks to Glucosamine and Salicylic Acid munching up those dead skin cells) and heats up when you take it off and while you massage it on. The difference with Idealist is that it is packed with spheres to exfoliate and polish the complexion. Idealist also targets enlarged pores and if it does it well, it will be the first product I’ve ever known that does. I’m not sure that one application of the product is enough to fairly assess this (and it’s dark now!). The treatment apparantly gives the same benefits of micro-dermabrasion and a 30% glycolic acid peel after one use, though. Okay, well I will just have to take their word for that because generally that’s an unmeasurable comparison for a regular customer to be able to make. What I can say though is that my skin is now unbelieveably soft – ultra, ultra soft, in fact, and feels very polished; it’s an amazingly good result. While it’s recommended that users finish with Idealist Pore Miniming Skin Refinisher, which I did, my skin still feels slightly dry. While Pefectionist Peel comes in at £50+, this treatment is a more affordable £33.28, and there’s no faffing about with neutralising pads (which inevitably run out way before the Peel does).
