In a fashion media world where everyone who is anyone gets scrutinised, one name has been hot on everyone’s lips in early 2015: Sienna Miller. That boho-chic style that she was so associated with for a decade has gone, and in its place Sienna has been sporting a colourful, grown-up, understated look, and that new choppy bob has moved her on from long, rock-chic waves, too. While Sienna may be quite young to be a role model for us Beauty+ women, her fashion transformation has shown that some well-placed purchases can really, really update your look. If you are feeling a bit stuck, sit up and take note……..

So where to start? Well, I went to Marks and Spencer. While Sienna’s budget may be strictly designer, I wanted to find some pieces that would not only give me a style boost but would fit with what I already have, and I wanted to stay away from basics and strike out and be a bit more adventurous. Marks and Spencer have hit their style stride this season: they have really put a great deal of effort into detailing, fabrics, fit and design, creating proportions and looks that acknowledge trends but ensure that your pieces will look great for more than one season.

So these are my Fabulous Five (which I had to cut down from my Terrific Twenty to fit the page!)

M & S Edit

Print Per Una Jacket (£59)

The rich, red print on this jacket is really sumptuous and you have to try it on to see how good it looks. The fabric gives it a luxury feel and the bright shade will give any outfit a lift. It was love at first sight, and the baroque effect gives it a real Italian-style attitude.

Per Una Jean (£39.50)

I am going to be daring and hold my hands up – I am bit pear-shaped and skinny jeans are not really for me. So the return of this nouveau kick-flare in that dark shade is like a gift from the style gods, giving legs a longer, leaner look. Sold!

M & S Edit

Collection Top (£35)

Shorter length tops have scared me for some time, but with hemlines on skirts and jeans rising, putting on a longer top just adds bulk and looks out-of-step. This top gives a pretty feel to edgier printed skirts, trousers and jeans, and the superb cut and just-right sleeve make it a win-win for me.

Per Una Speziale Skirt (£59)

The slightly higher waist and cut of this skirt make it really flattering, and that graphic-stripeprint lifts it above your average pencil skirt. A huge designer theme for this season, I would team this with the Collection Top for the perfect daytime look.

Limited Edition Bag (£39.50 shown on home page)

When it comes to investment bags it always makes sense to go for a classic, but I do like to mix them up with something more current. This little beauty with its tailored bucket shape and snake-effect print is all about this season: a guilt-free accessory treat!
