I really wasn’t happy with my first attempt at Chanel Mimosa – it was patchy and I was unsure just how much to load the brush so I didn’t get the seamless finish that I think yellow nail varnish needs. If it isn’t perfect, scrap it. David Barton gave me a great tip when I was moaning about not being able to get it right, and that is to apply basecoat, then a coat of Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coat and then start loading the colour. Somehow the coat of Seche gives a more adhesive and smooth base for the colour. I still needed three coats though to be sure of a solid colour. I’m happy with it now and any reservations I had about wearing yellow are completely gone. The shade has a slight shimmer to it. In love with this! See what you think…

I really think I need this. I tried a more buttery shade which didn’t work for me, I think the level of brightness of Mimosa is perfect. Really looking forward to Chanel summer!

i had every intention of getting this anyway – i told myself i would MAKE IT work.
it looks amazing. definitely one to wear with a pink lip. -
not so sure I like it, but I’m not a fan of the colour yellow… Second attempt looks better though 🙂

I would never wear it myself 😉

Hmm..mixed views on this. I love it but not sure the love will stay more than one summer.

Very nice! Useful tip about the Seche Vite, I need to buy another bottle of this as I miss the super-shine it gives.

I love it, such a bright, sunny colour. I also think that’s a really good tip, about using the Seche Vite first! I’ll have to give that a shot.

Gorgeous on you, but I still can’t get over my complete hatred of yellow nail varnish. Or yellow cars.
Glad you like it though! Thanks for sharing the tip about the top coat as a base coat.

Thanks so much for the tip. I thought it went on fairly well over butter London, but it’s still a bit patchy. It’s an unforgiving polish, isn’t it?
I like Mimosa on you, but I will probably only use it as a toe polish. After wearing it all day today, I’m still not in love as I was with the Khakis.

Looks very good quality – just not sure I would be brave enough to wear the colour – takes some getting used to 😉
Thanks for sharing x
