Christmas In July

Every year, the beauty world celebrates Christmas early; in July in fact. There are hundreds of press events to attend and you can bet your last dollar that at each one there will be mince pies and mulled wine. Oh, and snowmen, snowflakes and Christmas trees by the dozen. The idea is to preview products and ranges that are coming up for the Christmas period…magazines with long lead times need to know this information early so the products can be included on their Christmas issues – some of which will be being worked on now. But, I can’t tell you how surreal it is to find yourself in an ivy clad room, decked with tinsel and baubles while the sun beats down outside. I went to my first CIJ event today – it was for Marks & Spencer – I tasted chocolate Chrismas cake..like proper Christmas cake but with chocolate added into the mix..it was amazing. I decorated a Christmas cake with icing, gold stars and sugar sprinkles..it will apparantly keep til December, too. I saw LED light mini twinkling trees, Christmas party dresses and festive Santa socks. Oh, and some rather lovely beauty things, too.

It’s totally surreal but feels normal at the same time; these events happen every single year, but by the time I do actually get to Christmas, it feels like old news!

Oh lovely, best its nice to have a bit of Christmas Cheer in the middled of July, it’d put me in a fantastic mood, but then I’d also probably start worrying about money and presents!

I’m a great Christmas fan so I think I would be fine with doing it twice a year!
